The owner of a rented urban property wanted to use the south east facing slate roof to install a solar PV system and generate an income.
An array of 9 x 240W (2.13kWp), phono solar modules (1 string) was installed.

Main concerns were shading from dormer extension from neighbouring property. The array was therefore positioned as far as possible to the right-hand roof boundary. There were no issues with aesthetics as the roof overlooked an industrial estate, which ran along the rear of the terrace row.

To allow the landlord to take meter readings without disturbing the tenants, the generation meter was positioned inside a water proof box on the wall at the front of the property.
Sun Catcher has agreed with the system owner to monitor the system each month and compare the output against the expected returns.
The chart below shows the actual electrical power produced (purple bar), against the number of kWhs predicted (green bar, Note: from Feb 2012 the green bar is an expected yield based on last years performance).
The results show that the system produced 144kWhs in March 2012.
